Careers Advice
A number of free, individual and collective offers of service from DM that can help you in developing and furthering your career are open to you as a member. There is a telephone advice line where you can discuss your thoughts and plans for your working life with one of our advisors. And there are late afternoon/early evening meetings and career workshops where you may find inspiration in your career planning.
If you are a jobseeker – out of a job or just thinking of changing jobs – you can get feedback on your job applications and CV.
DM has established 14 professional networks – a unique offer to our members to discuss professional issues with colleagues employed in the same type of workplace. This is an opportunity for you to strengthen your professional identity and career planning, to exchange knowledge of professional issues and of working conditions. As a member of such a professional network you will be invited to a number of events throughout the year, and you may engage in net based communication with other members of the network.
DM offers continuing education
A university education requires continued updating. In DM Efteruddannelse (DME) - which is a special unit in the DM office – you will find a wide range of offers of courses. Here you can get acquainted with the newest theories or methodology or you can work with concrete cases and train your skills.
Examinations complete research based courses. It is our experience that learning is enhanced by linking courses to daily working life, so this is a guiding principle in the way we design and run courses.
As a DM member you get a special rebate.

The road to a job – for new graduates
DM helps you get a good start in your working life. Every spring and every autumn we organise a number of events, activities and courses for students and graduates.
These will mainly be about the transition from studies to work, information about types of workplaces, private and public, as well as job functions. We cooperate with MA (an unemployment insurance fund for academics) and MP (a pension fund for academics) in running an online career guide www.candportalen.dk, which may give you inspiration and knowledge on how to find your first job.
DM's offers to unemployed members
As a jobseeker you can avail yourself of our advice on pay and conditions. But we also offer you courses and give you advice on how best to apply for a job. Our website has a complete section for jobseekers.
There and at www.magisterjob.dk you can check vacant jobs within a variety of fields.
DM has a number of offers specifically for unemployed members. Support is available for courses, and financial help is available for transport costs in connection with courses. We have premises in Copenhagen, Odense, Århus and Aalborg where unemployed members may use rooms with computers with internet access, telephones, newspapers, professional journals and other necessary facilities for job seeking. Please note that it is not DM that deals with unemployment benefits and unemployment insurance. For that you have to be a member of an unemployment insurance fund. For DM members this will normally be MA – which is the unemployment insurance fund with the strongest links to DM.
